On Saturday, I went to the Toronto Travel Expo. It was a big turnout, and many visitors appeared to be booking their next destination. I met up with Gosia from my Matador U travel writing course, and my friend, Asuka.
I saw the travel photography presentation by Andrew Pateras. I found his photography enlightening and he gave a few good tips: locking up your camera bag even while you are wearing it or have the face slightly tilt back during a portrait shot to avoid the double-chin look.
I was more in it for the G Adventures presentation and discounts. I want to visit the Galapagos Islands – it’s expensive. Any money I could save is helpful. Their main promotion was 20% off tours but it didn’t include the marine tours to the Galapagos Islands – Bah! They did have a land based Galapagos tour for 20%, but you still had to book your flight at the same time with Flight Centre by end of the week Friday. I really didn’t want to pay in advance for the flight to Quito, since I’m already heading to Colombia next month. I have a bad habit of booking multiple trips in advance.
I found Gecko Adventures and their Galapagos tours. They appear to be cheaper than G Adventures and were offering 20% off. Not sure if there is any fine print, so I’ll have to call them.
We’ll see if I pull the trigger on the tour anytime soon.
A few weeks later, I went to the Toronto Travel Show. It was okay but the Expo was way better.
It was a pleasure to meet you! Can’t wait for our next meetup!
