I took a day tour to Guatape in April of 2014. There were six travellers including myself plus the tour guide. We travelled by van which was comfortable. The tour cost 60,000 COP, which was reasonable since it included breakfast, lunch, and a few sightseeing spots.
The land has an altitude of scenery especially for a photographer as I. Unfortunately, the sunshine was lacking that day and I didn’t get the best photos. I will definitely have to return one day. On top of the hill where the big rock, El Peñon, is located is an almost 360 degree view of the immediate Guatape area. The base of the rock has a few restaurants, souvenir shops and bars. I grabbed a Club Colombia while absorbing the Colombian landscape.
