In this summary I’m going to provide you my Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan review and if the price is worth it.

First of all, paying for recurring fees sucks whether it be for gym memberships or car insurance. But it is particularly worse when paying for digital software or assets. I mean renting software that you can’t own isn’t fun. Welcome to 2020.

So, let’s dive in.

What’s Included in the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan

  • Photoshop
  • Lightroom CC
  • Lightroom Classic
  • Bridge
  • Fonts
  • Portfolio
  • 20 GB of Adobe Cloud Storage

The Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan price starts at $9.99/month.

Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan Review

The two software that I use are Photoshop and Lightroom Classic which are vital for many Photographers.

The other version of Lightroom, in my opinion, is geared more towards photography beginners and social sharing. I never use this version.

Adobe Bridge is an application I rarely use but I do have it installed because it is good for browsing assets that you don’t want in your Lightroom catalog. It provides detailed metadata about your assets which aren’t provided in Windows Explorer or Mac Finder.

Adobe Fonts is a nice to have. I use them often and they’re a must for many graphic designers. The fonts integrate well with Photoshop with one-click install.

Adobe Portfolio is great for photographers that want to showcase their work without paying extra for web hosting. I don’t use it because I have this website and my Instagram account.

I don’t use the Adobe cloud storage because 20 GB because isn’t sufficient space for my images and videos. In addition, I don’t think paying extra for more storage space is worth it.

I use Dropbox to backup all my files including my RAW files, GoPro videos, documents, Lightroom catalog, etc. Dropbox is just better at saving all types of file types across multiple devices and operating systems in my opinion. Plus, their primary service is cloud storage.

Furthermore, I need to provide a bit of history. Before the Creative Cloud which was released in 2011, the standalone Adobe Photoshop costed over $500 and Lightroom costed a bit over $100 to buy the software outright.

My first Adobe product that I purchased was Lightroom 5 for $100 back in 2013. Soon after, Lightroom became part of the Creative Cloud as did most or all of Adobe’s products from the Adobe Creative Suite.

My Lightroom 5 purchase became useless because I subscribed for the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan.

Why did I do this? Well, I needed Photoshop for advanced editing that you couldn’t do in Lightroom or in other photography software.

And if you look at it from a pricing standard, the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan costs $120 a year with PS and LR compared to paying $500+ just for Photoshop. And in this way, I would always have the latest versions of Photoshop and Lightroom. Therefore, you save money with the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan.

Conclusion

Many people aren’t happy with Adobe’s membership plan and understandably so. Their full suite of applications costs $52.99/month which is out of my price range. But the photography plan is within my budget and I need them to operate this travel photography blog.

I firmly believe the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan is worth it for $9.99/month. Trust me, I wasn’t happy with the membership-based pricing at first.

If you are looking only for a Lightroom alternative and you don’t need Photoshop, I suggest trying out Capture One Pro and reading my Capture One review.
