I’ve had the orange Lowepro Photo Sport 200 AW for about 3 years now. It’s about time I write a review about my beloved bag.
First of all, let’s talk about the color. The Photo Sport 200 AW came in 2 colors: black and orange. Black is the safer color when travelling abroad and doesn’t draw as much attention to you or your camera gear.
But black was too boring for me. So, I took the risk and bought the orange one.
The backpack easily fits my Canon 6D with the attached Tamron 24-70 mm. The padding inside the camera department is noticeably high-quality. There is extra space for an additional lens or telephoto lens on the shorter side.
The bag isn’t made for laptops, but I was easily able to fit a 13” thin HP laptop in the main compartment. Remember, there is no padding for the laptop. Some people put laptops where the back support compartment is located. I don’t recommend putting it here because this space is stiff and can damage your laptop.
I was even able to fit a thick, 14”, 2014 Alienware Laptop in the Photo Sport, but not comfortably.
The best feature about the Photo Sport 200 AW is its stitching. The bag has no rips. None of the straps or zippers broke. When I went to Iceland, I was able to fit 2 DSLRs (one camera in the main compartment) and a laptop into this bag. Remember though, there is only one protective compartment; and that is for 1 DSLR. This bag has travelled to over 15 countries with easily 20 pounds of cargo. It still goes strong.
I even took my backpack to the Galapagos. I was able to fit two large scuba fins in the back, open pocket. Of course, not the entire fins go into the pocket, but it worked.
The Lowepro Photo Sport 200 AW comes with an attached rain cover. You won’t even notice it comes with one until it rains.
Unfortunately, I’m currently abroad and had to send this backpack home with my friend. I’m moving to New Zealand and need more space for non-equipment. I also needed to reduce the number of bags that I’m travelling with.
The Lowepro Photo Sport 200 AW is out of production now. It’s now replaced with the Photo Sport BP 200 AW. I expect the same quality.
