Getting married is a momentous event, and nothing shouts out “special day” more joyously than a beach wedding in an idyllic location.
1. Anse Lazio, Praslin Island, Seychelles
Despite being voted one of the world’s top 10 most beautiful beaches, Anse Lazio remains surprisingly uncrowded. On one side, the silky sand is flanked by shallow turquoise waters, and on the other, embraced by lush vegetation and sprawling palms. Magnificent boulders complete the antediluvian spectacle, and reinforce the whispered legend that Praslin Island is the original Garden of Eden.
2. Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Island, Australia
Regularly bestowed the eminent accolade of being the world’s most beautiful beach, and certainly the most photographed; Whitehaven is 7km of endless, pure-white silica resting alongside lapping cobalt waters. With the amount of visitors carefully restricted, the beach cultivates a delicious sense of being detached from the rest of the world, providing the ultimate destination for an intimate wedding.
3. Harbour Island, Bahamas
For a romantic setting, the diminutive Harbour Island beats all competitors with a hard stick by showcasing rosy-hued sand with the texture and softness of powdered sugar. Crystal-clear waters meander effortlessly alongside, creating a divine contrast between delicate pink and striking azure. The beach is surrounded by a ridge adorned with wild-grass, lavender, and not forgetting the ubiquitous sashaying palms.
4. Tanjung Rhu, Langkawi, Malaysia
Tanjung Rhu is consistently hyped as being the best stretch of beach Langkawi has to offer, which is lofty praise indeed. The beach’s secluded, out of the way location, along with its unspoilt demeanour have secured its tranquil ambiance. With a pristine stretch of white sand reaching down to warm waters, awe-inspiring panoramic views, and a sunset to die for, Tanjung Rhu is the picture-perfect wedding spot.
